Josh Skelton
From the shortgrass prairies and cropland of southwest Nebraska, we are proud to present the launch of our family farm-to-table business with our initial product line… individual cuts of Forage-Finished beef.
Widely acknowledged as “The Beef State,” Nebraska is home to the finest beef cattle in the world. While much of this reputation centers around the state’s corn production and its related commercial feedlot industry, our sixth-generation family farming operation is working to extend that reputation to the forage-fed free-range market. With family members observing and caring for our animals year-round, we are confident that we will bring to your table a product that will have lived up to Nebraska’s other slogan...
Our beef offerings are born and grazed across our family farm for a minimum of 24 months, performing nature’s intended role for ruminants in breaking down pasture forages and crop residues to return nutrients to the soil, all while creating a high-quality and nutrient-dense protein product. This extended finishing time proves vital in developing more balanced ratios of omega-3 to omega-6 fat deposits, and special care is taken to ensure animals are finished with appropriate fat marbling and covering that leads to a first-rate and healthy eating experience. By simply allowing adequate time and free access to diverse forages, the overly “gamey” flavoring sometimes associated with non-grain-fed beef is avoided. No shortcuts with supplements or grain additives are permitted for our finishing animals, and much care is taken to ensure that our animals are, in fact, FORAGE-FINISHED.
Jesse and Raegan have been married since 2019. Jesse works as a Certified Public Account and Investment Advisor, and Raegan is a biology professor at Concordia University, Nebraska. When they aren't working, they are at the farm!
Josh is the oldest son of James and Lana Skelton, and Jesse's older brother. He is our cow whisperer. When he's not moving cattle, he's probably building fence for them. Josh recently moved back to the farm fulltime and spent over 18 years as a land surveyor.
Jackson is the youngest Skelton family farm member, marking the sixth generation. He is Jesse and Raegan's son and turned one in March 2024. He's also the cutest little farm hand you'll ever see.
James and Lana are the parents of Josh, Jesse, and their younger sister Kelsie. We wouldn't have a farm without them continuing the family legacy and raising their hardworking sons to be able to run the farm with them!
